CUEPACS wants special allowance for civil servants in the city

Oct 16, 2017

CUEPACS is suggesting that civil servants living in cities be given a special allowance and public transport discounts, to help them cope with the higher cost of living.

It feels this will especially benefit those earning below 3,000 ringgit a month, a group it considers the 'urban poor'.

It also says if the move is approved by the government, the same consideration should be extended to city-dwellers from the private sector.

Meanwhile, CUEPACS is also asking that all civil servants be given a one and a half month bonus, when Budget 2018 is tabled next week.
