Money allocated for Tahfiz schools stricly for upgrading infrastucture

Oct 09, 2017

The 30 million ringgit allocation for Tahfiz schools announced by the Prime Minister recently, is strictly for upgrading infrastructure, and not to pay staff salaries.

This, after the Deputy Prime Minister revealed that almost 80% of an earlier 30 million allocation under Budget 2017, had been used to pay tahfiz staff.

The latest allocation was given in the wake of the deadly tahfiz school fire in Keramat last month.

Figures also show there were 40 fire incidents involving 56 fatalities at tahfiz schools nationwide, since 1989.
