All tahfiz schools nationwide will undergo safety standards inspections

The Cabinet has instructed the Fire and Rescue Department to inspect safety standards at all tahfiz schools nationwide. 

Schools that fail to meet the standard will then be given a certain period of time to comply, failing which they will be shut down. 

The Prime Minister says this is to avoid a repeat of the Keramat tahfiz school fire, which claimed the lives of 21 students and 2 wardens. 

Meanwhile, the seven teenagers who are being held over the fire, have had their remand extended by another week until next Friday.
