Japan yet to respond to request for more information

Jul 06, 2017

Japan has yet to respond to PDRM's request for more information, regarding the alleged smuggling of over 100 kg's in gold bars from Malaysia.

The IGP says Bukit Aman had asked for more info as soon as news of the smuggling emerged on Sunday, and have already conducted their due diligence.

It was earlier reported that the gold, worth over 19 million ringgit, was found hidden under the clothing of 10 Malaysians, who were stopped at the airport in Osaka back in April.

Japanese sources say gold smuggling has been on the rise there, since they're consumption tax was raised by 3% three years ago.
