Researchers claim to have narrowed location of MH370

Jul 05, 2017

Australian researchers claim they have narrowed the location of the missing flight MH370, to within just a fraction of the ocean search area that has already been explored.

A team from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation says its been analysing drift modelling data, even after the official search had ended.

It adds that it believes the plane went down in an area of the ocean with strong cross-current, which would explain why no debris arrived in Australia.

This comes after the governments of Australia, China and Malaysia announced in January, that the ocean search for MH370 would be suspended indefinitely, until credible new evidence emerges.

The research team says its already handed its latest findings to the three countries, but its not yet known if its enough for the search to resume.

Separately, the Netherland's Foreign Ministry says suspects in the 2014 downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, will be tried in Dutch courts, under Dutch law.

This, following earlier attempts to set up an international court over the incident.
