Australian airport set to probe incident involving AirAsia X flight

Jul 04, 2017

The Gold Coast airport in Australia will investigate the incident, in which a KL-bound AirAsia X flight was forced to divert to Brisbane.

The plane is believed to have experienced bird-strike, shortly after takeoff.

The AirAsia X plane managed to land safely in Brisbane, with no injuries reported.

The airport issued a statement saying its working together with the relevant stakeholders to look into the issue.

It adds that it also has a comprehensive wildlife management program at the airport, including a long-standing cooperation with a leading bird-strike management specialist.

The airline has already deployed a recovery plane to bring the passengers back to KL.
