News Wrap-up: Indian Muslim restaurants will not hike prices, IGP denies using PDRM funds for daughter's wedding
Jul 14, 2018
No Price Hike By Indian Muslim Restaurants
The Indian Muslim Restaurant Operators Association has assured there will be no price hikes by its members, even if the cost of raw materials goes up following the zero-rating of GST.
Its president told Free Malaysia Today that he was not aware that 30 percent of Indian Muslim food outlets in the country had raised their prices.
He will be meeting the Domestic, Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry to obtain further details on the issue and attempt to resolve the problem.

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Indian Restaurant Owners Association says most of the Indian food operators had not adjusted their prices.
It adds that many of its operators had even absorbed the GST costs when the tax was in force.
"No PDRM Funds Used For Wedding"
The IGP says no PDRM funds were used for his daughter’s wedding, clarifying that he had used his own money for the occasion.
This, after a Sarawak Report article implied that the police force had sponsored the trips of Asia's top cops to attend the wedding.

Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun says the report is untrue and inaccurate, adding that he is considering taking legal action against them for publishing the article.
He also says the MACC is welcome to investigate the claims.
Police Probe Mystery Shooting
Seven shots were fired from a riffle by an unknown assailant near a restaurant in Taman Maluri, Cheras.
Police say no injuries were reported in the incident, but a window at a nearby hostel was shattered.
