News Wrap-up: Schools to teach swimming, Euro 4M delayed

Oct 06, 2018

Schools To Teach Swimming

The Education Ministry is planning to introduce swimming lessons in schools.

The proposal was mooted by the Prime Minister due to the increase in drowning incidents involving school students.

The Ministry is also discussing the shortage of swimming pool facilities, especially for schools in rural areas.

This comes in the wake of the recent case in Puchong, where a teenager drowned while fishing at a disused mining pond in Taman Putra Perdana.

Longer Wait For Euro4M

The introduction of RON95 EURO4M, which contains less sulfur, will be postponed to January, 2020.

The government says petrol companies needed more time to prepare for the implementation of the petrol specification, including ensuring sufficient supply for the local market.

Meanwhile, the government has also agreed that the changes in petrol price will be carried out in stages for six months, starting July next year.

Cops To Investigate Sodomy Report

Police will call PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to give his statement on a false report regarding an alleged sodomy case in Singapore.

So far, they have taken the testimony of 4 individuals including the complainant who is PKR's Strategic Communications director.

Police also took UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam's information.
