News Wrap-up: Contaminated lettuce found!

Oct 07, 2018

MOH suspends contaminated lettuce produce

The Health Ministry has confirmed that iceberg lettuce produced at a local farm has been contaminated.

Singapore has since suspended importing the produce, which contains high levels of pesticide.

Reports suggest that Singapore has also asked to launch an investigation against the implicated farm, which has not been named.

From 2017 till July this year, over 5,000 samples of fruits and vegetables were taken for analysis from local markets, and almost 100 of them contained pesticide residue exceeding the maximum limit.
