UMNO discards Unity Government for now

UMNO's Unity Government plan has ended, for the time being!

When asked for an update about his controversial statement, the UMNO president said the matter is closed for now, but refused to elaborate.

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was speaking at the close of UMNO's scaled-back General Assembly yesterday.

Separately, UMNO's leadership has warned members they cannot be involved in the Port Dickson by-election even if they support a certain candidate, as the party has boycotted the event.

This comes after Tan Seri Mohd Isa Samad, who left UMNO to contest in PD as an independent candidate, alleged he has the support of Teluk Kemang UMNO.

However, it insisted any cooperation will not involve a joining of political parties.

The Communications and Multimedia Minister says such attacks are not welcome in a multiracial and multi-religious society like Malaysia.

He was commenting to a turban remark by a blogger that targeted CCID Commercial Crimes Director Datuk Seri Amar Singh, who led the police raid on Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's properties.
