Anwar wants a review on SOSMA

PKR president-elect, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants SOSMA to be reviewed to ensure human rights.

This comes after some SOSMA detainees at the Sungai Buloh Prison ended their hunger strike after mediation. 

They were demanding that the government abolish the act. 

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has assured that a special committee will be set up to look into national security laws, including SOSMA, and will take into account everyone's opinions.

Hishammuddin open to security detail probe

Former Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein is willing to be investigated over the controversy about three Armed Forces personnel who are still serving him, although he's no longer in government.

The Armed Forces ordered the trio to stop their duties after GE14, but Hishammuddin had admitted they are still in his security detail.

Hishammuddin insisted the trio were like family to him, but agreed an investigation should be done to determine if there's any wrongdoing.

Azmin Ali backs call to abolish BR1M

The Economic Affairs Minister is in full support of the Prime Minister's call to eventually abolish BR1M.

Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali adds the government is in the midst of drawing up a new economic strategy, to replace BR1M.

Earlier, the Prime Minister said BR1M handouts would be reduced in stages then abolished, so Malaysians can learn to be more independent.

Guan Eng: Irwan Serigar responsible for GST refunds shortfall, if MOF didn't approve

The Finance Minister says former Treasury secretary-general, Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah should be held responsible for the RM19 billion shortfall in the GST refunds trust account. 

This comes after former Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said he didn't authorise Irwan to withold part of the transfer requested by Customs for GST refunds. 

Lim Guan Eng says Irwan could face charges for abusing or unlawfully taking on the role of a minister, since he was acting without the approval of then-Finance Minister, Najib.
