Government's Council of Elders ends services

The Council of Eminent Persons has announced its retirement, but that might not go down well with the Prime Minister.
The CEP is only supposed to be up for 100 days, but Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad earlier said he still needs the council's help with governing the country as he can't do it all by himself.
Meanwhile, CEP Chairman, Tun Daim Zainuddin says it is vital for the government to reform the Finance Ministry and weed out all corrupt practices, if it wants to save money.
That's especially important since Tun Daim doesn't believe the government will be able to recover even half of the RM1 billion paid for super yacht Equanimity.
He said there's a very limited market for luxury yachts and only the super rich will be able to afford it.

Separately, Tun Daim has also laughed off allegations that he's involved in a conspiracy to prevent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim from becoming the next Prime Minister.
This comes after Anwar himself denied there's a plot to block him from the Prime Minister's position.

All clear for SST

The SST will be implemented in two weeks.
This, after the five bills to abolish GST were passed without much objection from Opposition senators in the Dewan Negara yesterday.
In winding down the debate, Finance Minister, Lim Guan Eng said the fact that Malaysia is not bankrupt after abolishing GST, is proof that the tax is unnecessary.

Musa Aman set to return home

Former Sabah Chief Minister, Tan Sri Musa Aman is coming back to Malaysia, after disappearing for more than three months.
He left for the UK for medical treatment without informing the state assembly, and has been given until September 11th to be sworn in as Sungai Sibuga assemblyman, or lose his seat as per the state constitution.
Musa Aman's political secretary confirmed he will be returning soon, but needs to be referred to a Singapore Hosptial for follow-up treatments.
