All existing AES summonses canceled

The government will wipe out all unpaid summonses for speeding motorists caught by the Automated Enforcement System (AES).

However, Transport Minister, Anthony Loke says this is just a one-off gesture, and assures there will no future cancellations of summonses or discounts.

He adds that JPJ will take over all operations of AES, including summonses, starting September.

RapidKL: Affected motorists can claim damages, after bus driver rampage

RapidKL has set up a special task force to handle insurance claims.

This, after one of their bus drivers rammed into several cars, while trying to escape from another accident he had caused last night.

The company has since apologised, and also assured that it will compensate the owners of the vehicles damaged in the incident.

Meanwhile, RapidKL confirms that the driver has been arrested after receiving medical treatment, rubbishing rumours that he had died.

KJ backs 1MDB probe

Rembau MP, Khairy Jamaluddin says he supports the government’s move to reopen investigations into 1MDB.

Khairy adds that the wants to put this fiasco aside, as he feels it's keeping UMNO from trying to move forward.

The Dewan Rakyat yesterday approved the motion for its Public Accounts Committee to reopen investigations into the financial scandal, and to publicly disclose its findings.

Seperately, Khairy says Malaysians don't really care if Pakatan Harapan fulfilled all its election promises, adding that the rakyat just wanted to push UMNO and Barisan Nasional out of power.

BERSIH insists automatic voter registration is a must

BERSIH has reiterated its call for automatic voter registration to be implemented before the next general election.

This, after the electoral reform group found that over 1,600 overseas voters faced registration difficulties, including poor response and lack of information from the Election Commission.

Apart from the automatic registration, BERSIH also wants the EC to standardise the registration and voting system for Malaysians abroad, and lower the voting age to 18.
