Police to record statements of Malaysian embassy officers in Washington, over alleged letter to the CIA

The IGP says several Malaysian embassy officers based in Washington, US will be called up to assist investigations into the leak of the letter to the CIA.

The letter, sent before GE14, asked the CIA to support then Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, should he win the election.

The IGP says police have already taken the statements of several people, including the former head of the Malaysian External Intelligence Organisation, Datuk Hasanah Abdul Hamid.

Putrajaya seeks court declaration that 1MDB owns The Equanimity

The government intends to seek a court declaration that the 1MDB group is the legal owner of the super-yacht, Equanimity.

The Prime Minister's department says the government also wants the proceeds from the vessel's sale to return to the government through the company.

He also dismissed claims that Malaysia's seizure of the yacht is illegal, and welcomed businessman Jho Low to return to Malaysia to reclaim the vessel.

BERSIH calls for a tribunal to investigate EC over misconduct during GE14

BERSIH is urging the Prime Minister to set up a tribunal to investigate electoral misconduct during GE14.

The electoral watchdog says the Election Commission is responsible for 10 misconducts.

It is also urging EC members who are still in the body to resign, and asked former chairman, Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah to be held accountable for all the allegations raised.

MOF denies it lost RM6 billion in a month

The Finance Ministry has denied reports that EPF incurred a loss of RM6 billion in a month.

Minister, Lim Guan Eng says based on the value of stocks, it is still wrong to assume such a loss based on the fluctuation of the FBM KLCI.

He adds that the daily change of the FBM KLCI index doesn't affect dividend distribution by EPF, as it declares dividends based on net profit.

IGP: Stern action will be taken against officers caught in illegal acts

The police force will take drastic action against its own personnel who are found to be involved in wrongdoings and illegal activities.

IGP, Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun says several senior officers and rank-and-file personnel have been identified, and are set to face punishment ranging from disciplinary action to immediate transfer.

This, after 149 individuals from the force were detained by the MACC last year.
