News wrap-up: Govt to regulate e-hailing from tomorrow

Govt to monitor e-hailing services

e-hailing passenges will have to include their IC or passport details, when registering to use such services.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke says it's to better protect e-hailing drivers. 

This, after an e-hailing diver was allegedly murdered by his passenger in Selayang recently. 

It's part of the govt's move to regulate and monitor e-hailing services in the country.

Bersih has yet to accept the Election Commission's invitation to become an observer for the Sungai Kandis by-election in Selangor next month.

The electoral watchdog says it objects to only being allowed to send four observers.

It feels it's not enough for them to do their job thoroughly. 

Jho Low may have fled Macau

The IGP says fugitive financier Jho Low has fled Macau, and for now his current whereabouts are unknown. 

Meanwhile according to a Hong Kong newspaper, Low is believed to have fled to mainland China, having travelled there from Macau either by car or private jet.

Personal tragedy hits Thai cave rescuer

The last member of the rescue team to leave the cave in northern Thailand, has been hit by a personal tragedy.

When he emerged from the cave, Australian doctor Richard Harris was told his father had passed away. 

It happened shortly after the last last of the 12 children and their football coach were safely taken out from the flooded cave.

Meanwhile, England footballer Kyle Walker has offered to send the boys England jerseys. 

Facebook trials new anti-spam feature

Facebook is testing a new anti-spam feature for its Messenger service, that will identify suspicious accounts sending unwanted direct messages.

It allows users to know the account’s country of origin by phone number and whether it was recently created.
