Azmin Ali: High Speed Rail agreement allows either party to pull out

Jul 18, 2018

The High Speed Rail agreement between Malaysia and Singapore has clauses in place allowing either country to pull out of the project.

Economic Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, however, says this is subject to various terms and conditions.

Speaking in Parliament, he says the government will soon hold urgent talks with Singapore over the matter.

The meeting is expected to take place at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Azmin has defended the government's estimate that the HSR project actually costs RM110 billion.

The previous administration put the cost about RM55 billion.

However, Datuk Seri Azmin said it did not include all the hidden costs and expenses that Barisan Nasional failed to disclose to the public.
