Cheque-processing fees to be increased in 2021

Malaysia is heading towards the next wave of e-payment.

Bank Negara says e-payment services could potentially replace debit cards, as the country evolves into a cashless society. 

From January 2021, cheque processing fees will be increased to 1 ringgit, as Bank Negara focuses on improving e-payment services. 

Meanwhile, the instant transfer fee of 50 sen will be waived, to encourage people to use e-payments.
