EC urges public to ignore viral messages about General Election
Dec 28, 2017
The Election Commission has urged the public not to believe viral messages, that Parliament will be dissolved next month, with polling day apparently in March.
It says the message is false, mainly because the supposed period between the disolution of parliament and polling day exceeds the 60-day limit within which an election must be held.
The EC adds that parliament can only be dissolved with the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on the advice of the Prime Minister.
