38-year-old former Petty Officer Saman Gunan lost consciousness and died on his way out of the Tham Luang cave complex, where he was delivering air tanks.

His death highlights the real danger involved in rescuing the boys from the cave.

The boys and their coach ventured into the cave while it was dry, and became trapped when a storm flooded the cave system.

They were found 10 days later by British rescue divers, about 4 kilometres from the cave mouth.
