Only locals cooks in restaurants

Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran wants all restaurants in the country to only recruit locals as cooks from July 1st.

He says all operators will be given up to the end of the year to ensure only local cooks work in their restaurants.

The minister says the regulation only permits locals as cooks in all restaurants effective next year.

He adds the move will reduce dependence of local restaurants on foreign labour and ensure the quality of local food.
