Several Sarawak parties quit Barisan Nasional
Jun 12, 2018
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has welcomed news that Barisan Nasional's component parties in Sarawak have decided to quit the coalition.
He says this will help boost Pakatan Harapan's support in Parliament.
The Sarawak Chief Minister said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party, Parti Rakyat Sarawak and Progressive Democratic Party have decided to form a new coalition called Gabungan Parti Sarawak, or GPS.
Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg says GPS will work with Pakatan on issues of national interest and on state rights.
