PKR Engineers Anwar Return

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be contesting in a by-election for the Port Dickson seat, as he seeks to return to parliament.

This, after incumbent MP Datuk Danyal Balagopal Abdullah announced his resignation in a press conference, saying he wants to make way for the prime minister-in-waiting.  

Datuk Danyal added he will continue serving his Port Dickson constituency, after his resignation.

Datuk Seri Anwar was not present at the press conference, as he’s in Hong Kong.

PKR secretary general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution said that if Datuk Seri Anwar wins the Port Dickson by-election, Anwar will not hold any position in government.

Instead, he will focus on parliamentary reforms.

PKR’s decision was agreed upon by Pakatan Harapan’s component party leaders.

This will be the 4th by-election since GE14 in May, after the polls in Sungai Kandis in August, and the recent Balakong and Seri Setia elections earlier this month.

If Datuk Seri Anwar wins the seat, it will be first time in Malaysia’s history that husband, wife and daughter will be MPs at the same time.
