The Immigration dept wants more people to make use of the online passport renewal facility

The Immigration Department wants more people to make use of the online passport renewal facility, to avoid the crowds and queues at the counters.

The Department says the service, which has been available for the past two years, has been under-utilised. 

It adds that to date, less than 10 thousand passport renewal applications were received via the online system, despite offering the convenience of picking up your finished passport at the branch nearest to you.

And, the National Anti Drugs Agency wants the government to introduce a new law, to force parents of young drug addicts to attend counselling sessions.

Its hoping this will make parents more proactive in monitoring their kid's activities, and prevent them from getting involved in drugs.

The agency is also meeting with local community leaders to gather feedback on drug-related issues in their area, to better address the issue.
