Tun M: We'll get more Malaysians to return home to work

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad admits that the government hasn't done enough to entice Malaysian professionals abroad to return to the country, but he wants to fix that. 

He says the government is aware of their complaints, which range from stifling bureaucracy to requirements involving Bahasa Malaysia. 

For example, Tun Dr M says well-qualified doctors had complained of difficulties in their attempts to integrate with the national healthcare system.

PDRM to help monitor childcare centres

PDRM is ready to work with the Welfare Depertment and other agencies to monitor childcare centres and anyone else who offers childcare services. 

The Deputy IGP says this includes helping to do background checks on child minders and other relevant people.

This will make sure that they don't have any issues like drug abuse.

He was commenting on the death of 11-month-old baby Zara, who died in Bangi last week after being sexually and physically abused by her caretaker's husband. 

Meanwhile, a postmortem has confirmed that she died of 'blunt force trauma to the head'. 

Kajang police said there were also signs that she was raped.

Shahidan Kassim pleads not guilty

Former Perlis MB Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim has been released on a RM25,000 bail, after being charged with molesting a 15-year-old girl last month.

Shahidan pleaded not guilty to the charge, and said the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding.

Viral photo of man on submerged car is fake!

SMART says a viral photo of a man sitting on top of a submerged car in a flooded tunnel yesterday, was not taken at the SMART Tunnel.

Instead, it was at another road tunnel near Jalan Tun Razak.
