Stricter Requirements For Houses of Worship

It will soon be illegal for houses of worship to be built on just any random piece of land.

The PM says the government will pass a resolution soon, to make it a condition that houses of worship cannot be built without the permission of the local authorities, which also means that they cannot build on land that doesn't belong to them.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad hopes this will prevent a recurrence of the USJ Sri Maha Mariamman temple riots, which reportedly arose over the temple's relocation order.
