PPBM Willing To Accept Ex-UMNO Men

Dec 15, 2018

PPBM Has No Problems Accepting Ex-UMNO Men

Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad has defended Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's decision to accept former UMNO lawmakers.

However, the PPBM chairman says they must first serve as independents lawmakers, support the government, and undergo individual assessment before eventually being allowed to join the party.

This comes after another six lawmakers quit UMNO yesterday.

More Perks For The Elderly

Starting January 1st, EPF contribution for workers aged 60 and above will be reduced from 6% to 4%, to give companies an incentive to hire the elderly.

The Deputy Prime Minister says this is because the country will become an ageing population by 2030, where 15% of the people will be made up of senior citizens.

Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will also introduce a special act soon targetted at senior citizens, to protect their rights and welfare.

Students To Hone Biz Skills

Five petrol stations will be built within university campus areas.

According to the Star, students will be tasked with managing the stations, and they will also be able to utilise the space to run their own businesses.

The Education Minister says this will equip them with entrepreneurial skills.

The five universities are UiTM, UPM, UTM, UTAR and UTP.
