MOH: it will be a 500 ringgit fine!

The Health Ministry says a 500 ringgit fine will be imposed on first-time offenders who flout the no-smoking rule at food premises.

The penalty will apply only to smokers who still break the rule despite being issued repeated verbal warnings.
The govt's plan for now is to first start with verbal warnings during the first six months of the ban which kicked off on New Year's Day before imposing the fine.

The Education Ministry has started providing "Early School Assistance" to more than three million school children from Year One up to Form 5.
Minister Dr Maszlee Malik says the 312 million ringgit assistance involved students from close to 11 thousand govt schools.

Students, who are eligible to receive the aid are from households that earned 3 thousand ringgit and below.
Each eligible student will receive 100 ringgit.

And, the National Anti-Drugs Agency says Sarawak recorded the highest number of secondary school students found positive for drugs in the country as at October 2018.

AADK adds most of the students are addicted to methamphetamine and the situation is worrying as it involvs teenagers below the age of 18.
