Four-cornered fight for Cameron Highlands

Jan 12, 2019

It will be a four-cornered fight in the Cameron Highlands by-election.

This, after BN's Ramli Mohd Nor, M. Manogaran from Pakatan Harapan, as well as independents Wong Seng Yee and Sallehudin Abdul Talib all filed their nomination papers this morning.

However, disputed MyPPP president Tan Sri M. Kayveas - who had earlier hinted at running for the Cameron Highlands seat - announced that he will not be contesting, and will instead support PH's candidate.

Polling day has been set for January 26th, and will follow a 14-day campaign period.

The by-election is being held after the Election Court earlier nullified the win by MIC vice-president Datuk C. Sivarraajh in GE14 due to corrupt practices.

Moving Online

Malaysian internet users have increasingly moved towards online video and voice calls as compared to traditional voice calls.

According to a survey by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, Malaysians increasingly used social messaging apps to make these calls by almost 30% last year as compared to 2016.

Meanwhile, the MCMC also found that about 87% of Malaysia’s population now use the internet compared to 76% two years ago.

Speaking of going online...

Online science textbook chapters for the Dual Language Programme are now up and running.

Right now, only soft copies of the Science textbooks for Form 3 students are available to be downloaded.

The Education Ministry provided the link when announcing the delay in issuance of textbooks for Science and Maths in DLP.
