Crime is on the low. No, really! It is!

The national crime index has been dropping every year, but the IGP says Malaysians don't seem to believe it. 

As such, the police will appoint an independent body to study the public perception of safety. 

Yesterday, the IGP announced the number of crime cases reported last year dropped by almost 12 per cent compared to 2017.

However, he lamented the perception of public safety in Malaysia is still low.

The IGP hopes the study will help the police find out how to boost public confidence on the issue of safety.

Minimum wage earners spend 40% of salary on groceries

Minimum wage earners in Malaysia spend about 40 per cent of their salary on groceries per month.

According to a study by e-commerce firm Picodi, a shopping basket filled with basic food items for one adult will cost about RM360.

This, paired with Malaysia's minimum wage of RM1,100 saw the country rank in the bottom half of a 52-country scale, for the lowest cost of basic food items compared to minimum wage. 

Australia topped the list, with citizens only spending 7 per cent of their salary for the same basket of food, while in Nigeria, the haul was almost 100 per cent over their minimum wage.

HFMD in Labuan?

There are concerns of a Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak in Labuan.

Two nurseries and a kindergarten were ordered to close for a week, after some kids fell ill with the disease. 

The Labuan Health Department has urged all parents to get their children tested.
