Jan 22, 2019

A viral curfew order for under 18s is fake!

The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry has urged Malaysians to verify all information before sharing them.

The viral Whatsapp message claimed teens below 18 will not be allowed to leave the house from 10pm with immediate effect.
--

Speaking of Whatsapp, the company is now limiting the number of times a user can forward messages to just 5, in a bid to fight fake news.

Previously, you could forward a message to 20 individuals or groups.

This is a worldwide expansion of a measure put in place in India last July, after the spread of Whatsapp rumours led to killings and lynching attempts.

And, 34 people were injured by firecrackers at Batu Caves during Thaipusam yesterday.

3 men were trying to celebrate with firecrackers, but instead of exploding in the air, they exploded on the road and injured people nearby and damaged cars.

2 people have been arrested for handling explosives.
