Feb 06, 2019

Malaysian Students Safe

The Education Ministry has confirmed that no Malaysian students were affected by the devastating floods in Queensland, Australia.

It says it received a report from our officials in Australia, showing that all our students in the flood-hit area are safe.

The Ministry adds that it will stay in close contact with the students until the situation improves, and will provide them all necessary support.

Keep Pets Out!

Pet owners are advised not to bring their dogs into Taiping and Bukit Gantang, which have been gazetted as rabies-infected areas.

This applies even to those who have vaccinated their pets.

The Veterinary Services Department says dog owners in the affected areas are also not allowed to take their pets out without the proper permission, in order to prevent the disease from spreading.

What Reshuffle?

The Deputy Prime Minister says she's not heard anything about a rumoured cabinet reshuffle.

Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, however, adds that any changes are the prerogative of the Prime Minister.

She was responding to a blog post, claiming that Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali could be appointed the new DPM, after the Chinese New Year break.

No Host, No Problem

It is confirmed that this year's Oscars will go on without a host for the first time since 1989.

This, after the Academy failed to find a suitable replacement for Kevin Hart, who pulled out of the gig in December, following social media backlash over some of his insensitive comments from several years ago.
