Schools have been warned to take precautionary measures to prepare for the hot weather

Feb 15, 2019

It's been really hot the past few days and the government is now worried about the children.

The Education Ministry has urged schools to make sure students are not exposed to too much hot weather.

They're also allowed to postpone all outdoor activities if needed.

School authorities should also prepare sufficient clean drinking water for students, and ensure they drink enough liquids.

The Met Department earlier said the hot weather will peak in April and return to normal in May.

You could be siting for several papers a day for your SPM exams this year!

This year's SPM exams start in October and could see students sitting for several papers a day!

The timetable seen on the Examination Syndicate's website also showed important papers packed side by side.

The Melaka Action Group for Parents in Education told the Star, this could cause anxiety for students, insisting kids should be given time to rest.

Other parents are also worried about the stress their children will face, especially those in the Science Stream who might have to sit for up to 3 heavy papers in a single day.

The Education Minister clarified the tight exam schedule is to avoid the flood-season, but said it's just a draft and welcomed feedback from parents.
