MCA and MIC to leave BN?

MCA and MIC are considering leaving Barisan Nasional, to form a new coalition.
The parties say it's due to a lack of "mutual respect" from alliance-member UMNO.
They criticised UMNO's silence, after BN Secretary-General Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz made several inflammatory racial remarks while campaigning for the recent Semenyih by-election.

Woman arrested after leaving child in home for few days

A 31-year-old woman has been arrested in Kangar, Perlis for alleged child neglect.
According to Berita Harian, she allegedly locked her 7-year-old daughter in an empty house with no food since Wednesday last week.
Neighbours heard her cries for help and gave her food through an open window.
They contacted the police yesterday, and the cops managed to break through the front grill to rescue her.
The girl was unhurt and is now under the care of the Welfare Department.

Rantau by-election dates to be set on Wednesday

The Election Commission says it will meet on Wednesday, to set the dates for the by-election for the Rantau state seat in Negeri Sembilan.
UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hassan won the seat in GE14.
However, it was declared vacant, after the courts ruled that the PKR candidate was wrongfully barred from filing his nomination papers during GE14.
