Ronald Kiandee to retain PAC position till further notice

Mar 25, 2019

Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee, who jumped ship from UMNO to BERSATU, will remain PAC Chairman until a better candidate is found.

The position of PAC chairman was promised to the Opposition, and Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the Pakatan government will keep that promise.

"This is not a legal matter, it is a promise made by the party, Pakatan Harapan. We can do it any time, we will stick to our promise, but it's not necessary, the moment something happens you drop everything."

Meanwhile, PKR vice-president Dr Xavier Jayakumar says the leadership has yet to discuss Nurul Izzah Anwar's resignation as a PAC member.

Nurul quit last week, stressing the PAC chairman must be a member of the opposition.

MEF says employees with fake degrees should be fired immediately

Having a fake degree could get you fired.

The Malaysian Employers Federation says it's a serious misconduct that warrants immediate dismissal.

However, it admitted it's difficult for employers to tell the genuine from the fake and urged the government to set up a central system to make verification easier.

This follows a fake degree scandal involving our politicians and some higher-ranking officers.

The Johor Department of Environment Director is the latest to be dragged into the scandal, but he insists his doctorate degree is real and even showed proof to the media.

He has also lodged a police report against those who spread the fake claims.
