Child Sex Offenders Registry accessible from April 1st

Mar 27, 2019

The Child Sex Offenders Registry will come online next Monday.

The free checks can be conducted at any Social Welfare Department offices.

All you need is the MyKad or passport number of the person you want to look up.

But Deputy Women Minister Hannah Yeoh warned parents not to be completely reliant on the registry.

The registry has 3,000 names on it at the moment and will be updated monthly.

Nurul Izzah clarifies comments on Tun M

Nurul Izzah Anwar didn't mean any harm when she spoke to the Singapore media about our Prime Minister.

She has been under fire for the comments, deemed overly critical of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, but Izzah is not fazed.

"To be fair, we are interviewed all the time. I merely repeated my position from years ago, even before elections. There's nothing new. Alhamdulillah we're still working, I'm still committed."

Izzah's father Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said she is entitled to her own opinion, while reiterating the political family's allegiance to Pakatan Harapan.

Parliament looks at ways to vet MACC, Suhakam appointments

The government is still trying to figure out how to ensure the appointments for Suhakam, the MACC or the Election Commission, are vetted by Parliament first, as per a Pakatan manifesto promise.

De-facto Law Minister Liew Vui Keong says there are concerns the move will not be in line with the Federal Constitution and other laws.

So far, Pakatan has allowed the commissions to operate as independent entities that report directly to Parliament.

They were previously parked directly under the Prime Minister's Department.
