When old foes become new friends

Mar 29, 2019

MIC is the latest Barisan Nasional component party to hold hands with PAS.

The Indian-based party's President said it's important to work with its old enemy in the interest of multi-racial harmony, especially with the Rantau by-election coming up.

Still on Rantau, the Election Commission has reminded potential candidates the time to submit their nomination papers tomorrow is from 9am to 10am.

Polling day is on April 13th.

We could also be seeing another by-election in Sandakan, after its incumbent from DAP died of a heart attack yesterday.

Muhyiddin may refer to Suhakam report on Wang Kelian issue

The Home Minister doesn't want to speculate on the ongoing Wang Kelian investigation, but is willing to use Suhakam's report on the human trafficking camps as reference.

A Royal Commission of Inquiry was recently set up to investigate the case, and is expected to complete the probe by September.

Back in 2015, about 140 graves were found in dozens of human trafficking camps in Wang Kelian, Perlis.

Underskilled graduates are dragging down starting salaries for their peers

Malaysian Employers Federation, MEF executive director Datuk Shamsuddin Bardan told us there are two main reasons why starting salaries for graduates have been dropping the past few years.

The first is stiff competition for limited jobs, and the other is a lack of skills, including communication and the ability to make their own decisions.

Datuk Shamsuddin was commenting on the recent Bank Negara report that showed the starting salaries for diploma, degree and masters graduates all dropped since 2010.
