Four to contest in Rantau

Nomination for the Rantau by-election is over. 

It will be a four-cornered fight between UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, PKR Rembau Deputy Chief Dr. S. Streram, as well as two independants. 

In GE14, Mohamad Hasan won unopposed after S. Streram was barred from entering the nomination centre. 

Polling day is on April 9th.

EC notified of vacant Sandakan seat

The Election Commission has been informed of the vacant Sandakan Parliamentary seat. 

Incumbent Datuk Stephen Wong Tien Fatt passed away two days ago from a suspected heart attack. 

The EC will have to conduct a by-election within 60 days to fill the seat.

Tun Daim wants CEP report released

The Council of Eminent Persons Chairman supports the release of its 100-day report, amid calls from several quarters to do so. 

The calls came after the Economic Affairs Minister admitted the report is not a matter of national security. 

However, Tun Daim Zainuddin said it's not up to him to decide.

The Prime Minister had earlier refused to release the report.
