Ronald Kiandee no longer part of PAC after replacement

Apr 05, 2019

Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee says he will not be a part of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) after he's replaced.

That day could come as soon as next Monday.

The Prime Minister is expected to table a motion in Parliament next week, to replace Kiandee with UMNO Wanita Chief Datuk Dr Noraini Ahmad.

Meanwhile, UMNO's Deputy President says he's grateful to the government for returning the seat of PAC Chairman to the Opposition.

Several PAC members quit the committee in protest, after Kiandee was allowed to remain Chairman after he jumped ship from UMNO to Bersatu.

Chemicals back to haunt Johor in another river

There has been another case of river pollution.

Ammonia contamination at Sungai Sayong in Johor dried the taps of about 17,000 people in Kulai the past two days.

State authorities said it's because a reservior near an oil palm mill was broken.

The company responsible has had its raw water abstraction licence cancelled immediately, and will face a compound.

Zunar to receive compensation over book ban

The government has been ordered to pay RM1,000 to controversial cartoonist Zunar, for banning his book "SapuMan" for almost a year.

The previous Barisan Nasional government ordered the ban on the book, which focuses on the 1MDB scandal and former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
