MMA wants the govt to ban smoking in private vehicles

The Malaysian Medical Association wants the government to ban smoking in private vehicles.

It says people travelling together can be directly exposed to second-hand smoke, if a person lights up in the car.

It also cited countries like Australia, Canada and France, which have introduced smoking bans where a person can be fined for smoking in the presence of a minor or pregnant mum.

Govt yet to recognise UEC qualification

The government has yet to decide on whether to recognise the UEC exam.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad says the status of the exam was not discussed during yesterday's Cabinet meeting.

Earlier, the Attorney General said that the Legal Profession Qualifying Board will accept the UEC for the CLP Law exam, but was opposed by various parties.

ECRL most likely to be continued, says Guan Eng

The Finance Minister has hinted that the East Coast Rail Link project will most likely be continued.

But he says it depends on whether the cost of the rail project could be reduced by RM10 billion.

Lim Guan Eng adds that negotiations to reduce the price of the project are ongoing.
