The Health Ministry is actively working to clamp down on the online sale of abortion pills.

It told Sinar Harian that 5 women have died after consuming such pills, which were sold through social media, and even some online shopping sites.

He says 4 of the deaths were reported in 2015, while the other happened in 2017.

Several raids have already been carried out, to seize the contraband pills, which were smuggled in from countries like India and China.

It has also worked with MCMC to block the social media accounts of the sellers.

The prices of high-speed broadband services have reduced by nearly half since the end of 2018.

The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission says this is due to the govt's efforts to reduce broadband prices last year through the ‘Double the Speed at Half the Price’ initiative.

It adds that the initiative also saw an increase in fixed broadband subscriptions rise from 2.59 million in 2017 to 2.66 million last year.

MCMC says the increase was due to improved network quality, as well as increased competition in the broadband market.
