Future of old housing projects to be reviewed

Apr 29, 2019

Old flats could be overhauled soon.

The Housing and Local Government Minister was responding to the issue of cracks appearing at the Taman Keramat Permai flats.

The entire block appears to be tilted to one side, forcing the evacuation of all residents at Block F.

Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin says she'll speak to state governments about redeveloping major housing projects nationwide, especially flats older than 30 years.

Over 270 die counting votes in Indonesia election

More than 270 election workers in Indonesia have died because of overwork, while counting votes.

Officials say around 1,900 other staff have fallen ill, after long hours of counting millions of ballot papers by hand.

The elections two weeks ago marked the first time the country combined the presidential vote with national and regional parliamentary ballots, in order to save money.

Some 7 million people were roped in to help count and monitor the vote.
