Tun M on Pakatan Harapan's first year in power

It is the one year anniversary of Pakatan Harapan forming government and PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad seems happy with what he's achieved so far, saying he's fared no worse that the leaders of the US, Britain, France and Spain by comparison.

However, he acknowledged that support for the government is waning, because their firmness in combating corruption is angering former cronies who have lost their illegal income. 

Meanwhile, not being able to abolish tolls might be one of Tun M's biggest regrets since leading Pakatan to election victory in GE14.

He admitted they didn't know what they were getting into when they made the election promise, and later realised that the money to buy all the highways can be better spent for other more important purposes.

Spending and the economy also remain a cause for concern among experts, one year into the new administration.

Economics Professor Wong Chin Yong told us the ringgit has been dropping and consumer confidence is low, because of the government's habit of u-turning on economic policies.

Despite applauding the move to revive some major projects, Professor Wong believes the economy will suffer as long as Malaysia's economic policy is unclear. 

Back to Tun M, the 93 year old is confident he can still carry on with the job , as he reckons he's stronger and sharper than most others his age.

He also reiterated he will hand the PM's position over to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a year's time.
