Police to issue maximum fine for traffic offences

Traffic police will issue the maximum RM300 fine for various offences during the Ops Selamat period.

Police say among the offences are speeding, beating the red light, using the emergency lane, overtaking at double lines and using mobile phones while driving.

They add that no discounts will be given, if a summon is issued for any of these offences.

Meanwhile, more than 40 thousand summonses were issued on the second day of the operation.

A man in Perlis, who was arrested for allegedly smacking his 6-month-old baby girl to death, will likely be released.

Police say they can't find any evidence to charge him adding that a post-mortem showed that the baby didn't suffer any serious injuries or bleeding.

Doctors also confirmed that the man did not suffer from mental illness.

Meanwhile, police say the suspect's wife will most likely be arrested for not having valid identification documents.

Govt solve problem of BSH recipients who didn't receive aid

BSN will automatically open new accounts for recipients of the second phase of the Cost of Living Aid, who did not receive the handout.

The government says some 300 thousand recipients have yet to receive the aid due to incorrect banking details.

They are to receive the payments starting June 14.
