The Prime Minister says it was his personal decision to appoint Latheefa Koya as commissioner of the MACC.

Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad also confirmed that he did not discuss the apppointment with his Cabinet - so as not to be restricted by their decision.

He did however seek the views and opinions of various parties before making his pick.

Latheefa - who is a former PKR member - was announced as the new MACC commissioner on Tuesday, replacing Datuk Seri Shukri Abdull, who stepped down before his tenure was to have ended in 2020.

They are all working

The JPJ has denied online reports, that only four AWAS cameras are working.

The Department clarified that all 41 cameras are still in operation, although some had to be temporarily suspended for repairs and maintenance.

It also announced that nearly 170 thousand summonses have been issued, since it took over the operations of the AWAS system.

Alleged road-rage thug nabbed

The main suspect, who was seen in a viral video hitting the windscreen of a car with a parang in a road rage incident in Johor, has been arrested.

His accomplice - also seen in the video - is now being sought by police. 

The cops add that subsequent investigations showed the main suspect had also been involved in several robbery cases around Johor Baru.
