My decision is final

Jun 09, 2019

Tun M has the final say

The appointment of Latheefa Koya as the new MACC chief is final.

The Prime Minister says he's already made his decision, and will not be turning back.

It comes following calls for Tun Dr Mahathir to clarify the appointment of Latheefa, which had caught many quarters by surprise last week.

Meanwhile, Latheefa's predecessor, Datuk Seri Mohd Shukri Abdull says the commission has managed to reach a 91% conviction rate.

This brings Malaysia on par with countries like Singapore and Hong Kong - a sign that the MACC's investigation standard has improved significantly.

Most fatal accidents in Selangor

Selangor has recorded the highest number of fatalities in the 10 days since Ops Selamat 15 started.

According to police statistics, 28 people lost their lives in the state during the period, followed by 25 in Johor and 18 in Perak.

Overall, it brings the death toll from accidents nationwide to 176...up until Friday.

Reverse balik kampung rush

The Transport Ministry has banned heavy vehicles on the highways today, to help ease congestion as people make their way home after the Raya holidays.

A surge in passengers is also expected at the Southern Intergrated Terminal or TBS, as well as at main KTM stations, as people make their way home after the holidays.
