Health Ministry: Kuala Koh Orang Asli disease is actually measles

Jun 17, 2019

The Batek Orang Asli in Kuala Koh, Kelantan was hit by a measles outbreak.

The Health MInistry says based on lab tests, 37 people from the same village tested had tested positive for the diseas.

The tests had also proved negative for other diseases like TB and leptospirosis.

The ministry blamed the outbreak on a low immunisation rate, due to their nomadic lifestyle.

Last night, a toddler from Kuala Koh died of the disease, raising the death toll to 15.

He also confirmed that the minister in question will soon be called in to have his statement recorded, but didn't give a time-frame.
