WhatsApp blocks Health Ministry complaints hotline
Jun 19, 2019
The Health Ministry will meet with officials from Facebook, after its subsidiary, WhatsApp blocked the ministry's smoking ban hotline
The ministry used WhatsApp to set up the hotline, for members of the public to report cases of smokers lighting up in no-smoking areas.
People would then send photographic evidence of people flouting the ban, along with their complaints.
However, Free Malaysia Today says WhatsApp has since blocked the hotline, because of complaints that it breached the app's rules on privacy.
