No more chemical plants in Pasir Gudang

Jul 02, 2019

There will be no new chemical plants built in Pasir Gudang.

The Environment Minister says there are already 250 such plants in the area, and new applications for plants will not be entertained.

Yeo Bee Yin adds, it's now required for all existing chemical plants to supply nearby schools with gas detectors.

"The government will continue to read and monitor the air quality for now, but we will eventually hand this duty over to school teachers."

Meanwhile, another four students in the Johor district complained about breathing difficulties yesterday, but were not warded.
