We need more kids!

By 2050, the average family in Malaysia could only have two children or less.

A UN report expects Malaysia's fertility rates to drop to 1.7 by 2050. 

The Deputy Women Minister says that could seriously affect Malaysia's development, due to a shortage of manpower.

As it is, we're projected to become an ageing nation by 2030, with 15% of people aged above 60.

No abolishing PTPTN loan repayments after all

PTPTN might not be able to abolish loan repayments because the money will be crucial for the next generation of borrowers!

The student fund's chairman says the RM9.7 bil allocation each year is not enough to sustain the demand for fresh loans. 

PTPTN receives applications for up to 200,000 loans per year.

MOH wants proof of forced birth control among Orang Asli

The Health Minister wants hard proof amid allegations that officials are forcing Orang Asli women to take contraception. 

Datuk Seri Dr Zulkefly Ahmad said birth control is prescribed to some Orang Asli women to protect them from dangerous pregnancies.

But he denied any of them are forced to take the injections or pills, after a member from the Temiar tribe alleged women who didn't comply would have their medical cards taken away.
