Ghost Smoke candies officially banned

Jul 25, 2019

Ghost Smoke candies don't contain banned ingredients, but they will still be taken off the shelves.

The Health Ministry clarified dozens of boxes of the product were seized nationwide over the past few days because of labeling violations.

The content did not match what was on the label, among other issues.

The Deputy Health Minister said the candies will be banned because it mimics smoking, and could encourage children to pick up the bad habit.

Change your mind about owning property

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin wants Malaysians to change the way we think about property.

"When you own a house, you can discipline yourself to start paying for the house at a young age, when you are at 35, 40. You have a home, you can reinvest and buy a better home for your family and get married and have children."

She adds, the new rent-to-own scheme will be launched in September, targeting those earning below RM3,000 a month.

Buyers don't have to pay a deposit, and can rent a unit for five years, before the authorities review their financial status and decide whether they are eligible to buy the house.

Medical graduates can now use their final transcripts to try and secure housemanship positions.

The Malaysian Medical Council agreed to accept final transcripts as well as degrees, after some graduates complained about not getting their registration egilibility letter.

They need a letter to apply for housemanship with the Public Service Commission.
